Undergarments
STEP 1 TO CONCEAL SWEAT: UNDERGARMENTS!
“Never let ‘em see you sweat”: this is the mindset about perspiration that we are taught from an early age. For each gender, this plays out differently. For men, unless engaged in strenuous physical activity, sweating reveals nervousness, untrustworthiness, and weakness in general. For women, sweating is unladylike and unacceptable, and as in men, is also seen as revealing nervousness, etc. Is it no wonder that we are willing to go to such lengths to control and/or hide it?
When getting dressed in the morning, those of us with Hyperhidrosis face the stress of mapping out the day, trying to figure out if we can hide an “episode” should one occur. Factor in the weather and the type of situation we must dress for (dressy casual? business attire? casual?), and it can be tricky!
One of the best things you can do is to start with your foundation wear. You may be pleasantly surprised to learn that there are options out there for both men and women. For men, there are undershirts engineered specifically to manage Hyperhidrosis, and underarm perspiration shields as well. For ladies, there are camisoles, undershirts, and dress shields too.
