Men’s Hyperhidrosis Undershirts

Men:  If you have Hyperhidrosis and you need to conceal it, the UNDERSHIRT IS KEY.  You can wear dress shirts–even colored ones– if you have an undershirt that manages your sweat!

OK, guys…I have done quite a bit of research to help you find the best undershirt to manage your Hyperhidrosis.  For starters, undershirts are available in several different fabrics; I’ll tell you what the major differences are.  You can choose from different necklines, types of fit, and price point.  There are companies on the Internet that serve the needs of men & women with Hyperhidrosis; I will show you three that offer great options in the undershirt category.  Ultimately, I hope to at least narrow it down for you, so you can find the undershirt that performs and fits you and your budget best.

PRODUCTS

I can tell you about three different companies that specifically address the needs of men with Hyperhidrosis:  Kleinert’s, AdvantageWear, and the newest, Silverback Apparel.

Kleinert’s (KleinertsShields.com) has been addressing the needs of Hyperhidrosis sufferers for many years.  They offer a wide selection of products for both men and women, including several types of dress shields (disposable, sewn in, etc.) as well as a variety of clothing styles.

Currently, Kleinert’s offers a 100% cotton undershirt that is treated with a patented, hypo-allergenic product called  Fabrapel.  This treatment purportedly causes the fabric to be sweat resistant, anti-microbial, and breathable.  The advantage the  Fabrapel ( also on occasion referred to as Dry Defense) treatment has is that it protects the entire shirt, not just the underarm area.  It is possible to sweat through it, but it definitely is sweat resistant and offers more protection than fabric not treated with it.  Kleinert’s Undershirts with Fabrapel are available in a crew or v-neck style, and both are offered with or without dress shields sewn in. Price:  $22.99 without shields, $24.99 with shields.  Kleinert’s also offers for sale sweat resistant underwear.

Advantagewear by Advadri also sells undershirts with dress shields sewn in, but this company offers three levels of protection:  Light, Heavy, and Maximim Sweat Guards.  The undershirts are 100% cotton and come in crew or v-neck styles.  Prices range from $17.99-$23.99.  Advantagewear also sells Calvin Klein undershirts with their dress shields sewn in, and those range in price from $29.50/3-pack (without any dress shields) to $23.99 each for Maximum Sweat Guard dress shields.  Advantagewear also offers an extensive array of clothing options with their shields sewn in.  Undershirts from Advantagewear by Advadri are available on their website (Advantagewear.com) as well as on Amazon.com, as shown below.

Silverback Apparel (SilverbackApparel.com) is newer on the scene and also offers unique options for men with Hyperhidrosis.  Their undershirts are offered in 3 styles: crew neck, v-neck, and deep v-neck.  The deep v-neck enables you to wear open neck shirts without your undershirt showing.  All styles of undershirts are constructed with double layer protection under the arms as well as on the back, which makes Silverback stand out, in my opinion.  There are two fabric options available: bamboo and X-Static.  The bamboo undershirts are naturally anti-microbial and more absorbent than cotton.  The X-Static option is polyester containing 4% silver, which according to Silverback makes it anti-microbial and causes sweat to evaporate more quickly.  According to a review at UndershirtGuy.com, the X-Static fit runs smaller than the bamboo product, but both choices received positive reviews.  Silverback undershirts are the most expensive of the three mentioned here, ranging in price from $39.99-$49.99, with discounts available for larger orders.

ALSO WORTH CONSIDERING
As I mentioned above, both Kleinert’s and Advantagewear sell their undershirts with dress shields sewn in. You may want to experiment with the dress shield option.  Disposable or washable dress shields could be added to a Silverback product, for example.  Also, you could use disposable dress shields on your outer shirt in addition to whatever undershirt you choose to wear.

Additionally, you should know that KlienertShields.com has a disposable shield called a “Body Guard” that can be placed anywhere on an undershirt to combat torso sweating, wherever it occurs.  Kleinert’s Body Guard shields are sold $10 for 10– inexpensive enough to give them a try.

Also, Kleinert’s offers a “Men’s Starter Kit”, which contains 12 pair disposable underarm shields, and one Sweatproof Undershirt with sewn-in shields.  You can choose between crew and v-neck, and color choices are white, beige, and black.  Priced at $33.98.

So there you have it!  You have at least three companies to choose from, with multiple options offered by each.  You can choose from cotton, bamboo, and even a material containing silver.

I would love your feedback on these shirts, as I am not a man and cannot test them out myself!

****UPDATE****

I happened upon a press release regarding a new T-shirt that was designed for hyperhidrosis sufferers which supposedly DOES NOT SHOW SWEAT…. it was invented in Spain upon the request of a businessman who suffers from hyperhidrosis.  I casually mentioned it to my friend Tug over at UndershirtGuy.com, and he tracked down all the details…. you can read his post about it by clicking here.  Pretty promising!! I will be on the lookout for when it will be available elsewhere in the world, aside from Spain.
